Hackathon 3: Hero's Laurels (Tunic)

The Hero's Laurels: A Hackathon project
For this hackathon, I decided to try my hand at woodworking and using the woodshop, so I chose a feasible project to suit for that: The Hero's Laurels from Tunic, a purple set of laurels with angular design that I really enjoyed
I started out by cutting several trapezoidal pieces, 4 with 3 inches on the long side and 2 with longer width, to create a sort of long hexagon once everything was put together. I stuck with using 30 degree cuts to make a normal hexagon, as far as angles are concerned.
After cutting a 2x4 into these trapezoids and splitting them butterfly style, I hollowed out a trench for a string of NeoPixels to go through, and for these 2 specific ones I included a drilled hole for the NeoPixels to enter and exit from. However, due to intense pressure from the drill bit, one of my pieces snapped in half, which ended up being beneficial in the long run but caused some stress in the short run. I also added some wooden fake leaves to the cut and glued it all together.
While waiting for the glue to settle I used the time to wire up, then code a simple piece of code onto an Arduino Uno, relaying only that I wanted lights to light up purple when plugged in. Very simple stuff. After the glue settled, I put it all together.
Running the NeoPixels through the small, angular grooves ended up being a bit difficult, but after running that through I decided to add the last bit of flair to the project: a cut piece of acrylic that would accentuate the light in the dark where it looked its best. Lastly, I took this video to prove that it worked just in case something went horribly wrong. Nothing did aside from a wiring mishap, but better safe than sorry.
